Sarah Miller - Teaching

Teaching: Composition , theory and Piano

I am proud to be a MacPhail Teaching Artist. MacPhail Center for Music is a community music school with locations in Minneapolis, Chanhassen, White Bear Lake and Austin, Minnesota. I teach at the flagship downtown MacPhail which has teaching studios for most musical instrument and a gorgeous recital hall. To view the many offerings at MacPhail, visit the website www.macphail.org. You may also view On-Demand recitals which include the recent Composition Recitals as well as a Faculty Recital featuring my recent work, “Clouds” for clarinet, viola and piano.

I am committed to excellence in my teaching.  I work with students of all ages, and tailor my approach to fit their needs and objectives.  My students often take part in contests and exams, including the NFMC Junior Composers Contest, MMTA State Composition Contest, NMTA National Composition Contest, MMTA Theory Exams, MMTA Piano Exams, MacPhail Honors Recitals, and the MacPhail Crescendo Program.  My students often win top prizes in the contests, and those taking the theory exam have had the top score in the state more than once.

I have designed classes and camps at MacPhail Center for Music in order to broaden composition instruction beyond the one-on-one lesson.  You may visit www.macphail.org in order to view the current offerings, and to register for classes and camps.

For those who do not live in the Twin Cities, I offer Zoom or Skype lessons.

If you would like to explore the possibility of lessons or classes, please e-mail Sarah at miller.sarah@macphail.org.
