MIA Project first phase nears completion!

I have finished writing 7 pieces to accompany art works at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. These have all been recorded and will be uploaded to the MIA website once they are mixed and the videos are completed. Watch for further updates! Here is a teaser to watch:

Iliad Song Cycle to be premiered at the MacPhail Faculty Recital Friday, 2/21/2020

My most recent composition, a song cycle setting portions of The Iliad  will be premiered at MacPhail Center for Music in downtown Minneapolis on Friday, Feb. 21st at 7:30 p.m.  The performers will be Dennis Petersen, tenor, Mike Alexander, horn and the composer at the piano.  It will be part of a MacPhail Faculty Recital which is free and open to the public.  I will also be performing the Lowell Liebermann Sonata for Flute and Piano with James DeVoll on flute.

One-Dog Sleigh at the Ordway's Family Blast, April 20, 2019

The GTCYS Concertino Orchestra with conductor Dan Mollick performed “One-Dog Sleigh” at the Ordway’s Family Blast Event on April 20th, 2019. The Not-So-Danceable Suite

Here’s a link to my latest piece which was premiered February 22, 2019 at MacPhail Center for Music. The movements are: 1. Allemande, 2. Sarabande, 3. Minuet in G?, 4. Dirge, 5. Gavotte, 6. Habanera and 7, Chasse. The piece features Alison Akins and Mike Alexander on horn, Randall Davidson and Rebeccah Pareker Downs on cello and Bjorn Grina-Shay and Paul Babcock on percussion.
