Soliloquy for Brass Quintet

$14.00

Soliloquy was written for the Brass Quintet at the Stratford Festival in Ontario, Canada. It was recorded by that ensemble in 2023. The piece is based on the prosody of the text from Hamlet's famous soliloquy, and the ending is a fughetta representing Hamlet's "fugue state." Note that the opening theme features two B-flats ("To be") and the following pitches do NOT include B-flat ("Or not to be . . . . ") In German, B is B-flat. B natural is H. Since B-flat is more friendly for brass players, I chose the B-flat interpretation of "Be."
