8 Bagatelles for Clarinet Trio: 8. Star Cage

8. Star Cage: This sculpture inspired the entire project when I first saw it on a tour given by my sister-in-law. It looks to me like the interplay of melodic lines in counterpoint, and that is what I attempted to write. The sculpture is not that large, but in my mind it is a large as the heavens.This set of pieces was written in the spring of 2016, and first performed at the Weisman Art Museum on June 5, 2016. The project was supported by an Individual Artist Grant through the Minnesota State Arts Board.
